OFFICIAL OPENING OF BROMONT PRODUCTION PLANT
Bromont, February 9. 2009—Dave Gagnon, president and CEO of AAER Inc. (“AAER“ or “the Company”), this morning officially opened the production plant in Bromont at a ceremony attended by regional elected officials as well as many customers, partners and employees. Canada’s only original equipment manufacturer of wind turbines of 1 or more megawatts (“MW”) also took the opportunity to unveil the second wind turbine it manufactured for the city of Portsmouth, Rhode Island, which will be shipped out today to the site where it will be installed.
“Today, we are achieving a milestone in our growth and reaping the rewards of eight years of perseverance and nearly $35 million in investments in Quebec. First and foremost, we have realized our aspirations to contribute to the transfer of European technology to Quebec, use local components in the manufacture of our turbines, sign partnership agreements with suppliers that will grow with us and play an active role in Quebec’s economic growth, especially in the regions,” said Mr. Gagnon.
This past January, AAER delivered the first wind turbine produced at its facility in Bromont to the US Marine Corps logistics base in Barstow, California. The Company expects to pick up the pace throughout 2009 as it consolidates its international reputation with the delivery of additional wind turbines to American, Canadian and European customers.
“More than ever, with our state-of-the-art facilities, we can rightly claim to be the sole Canadian manufacturer of wind turbines of 1 or more megawatts. Local expertise is still young, but we are contributing to stimulating and developing it, and to raising awareness of it both at home and around the world. We intend to continue growing and to tackle the challenges that come our way with confidence and enthusiasm,” Mr. Gagnon concluded.
